Negotiations
Royal Court, Palaa, Palashain Dynasty, 913 Light Years from Sol.
Ember Xol followed the footman along the wide, sparse, but well-appointed corridor. The man walked proudly before her, his back straight and his stride measured until he reached a set of double doors on his right, whereupon he stopped and turned to face them. He stepped forward and the doors swept open, revealing a beautiful suite with doorways leading off this main entrance chamber with its balcony looking out over the grounds of the court. The footman led them inside.
Ember walked in and admired the décor of the room. Much like everything here, the design was full of sweeping lines and bright, clean colours of white and silver.
Behind her, her aide Sheeva, directed the courtâs men, who were carrying their luggage into the room, and made sure the right cases went into the right rooms. The two ladies-in-waiting that Ember had brought with her went right to work, emptying the cases and preparing the room as the men left, leaving only the Palashain footman in the hall with them. He smiled as the last of the workers left and stepped up to Ember.
âAaah, there we go. Everything is in place. I hope the room lives up to your expectations, Ambassador?â
Ember smiled. âItâs perfect, thank you.â
âVery good. Well, I will leave you to settle in.â
âAre the other leaders and ambassadors here?â Ember asked him as he turned to leave.
âI believe so, yes. The other leaders are here. The first meeting is scheduled for this afternoon. I will come to escort you to it in good time,â the footman explained.
âThank you. You may leave,â she said with a smile and watched the man give her a shallow bow, and leave the room, closing the door behind him.
Sheeva walked over to her and smiled. ~Maâam, might I suggest a short rest on the balcony while we make our usual sweeps?~
Ember nodded. ~Of course,~ she replied through their Link and moved through the room and out onto the large balcony. She looked back once to see her two ladies in waiting, who were Magi just like her and Sheeva, begin to sweep the room for devices or Magic that might be used to spy on them. It wasnât uncommon for them to find such things. It was almost expected when dynasties hosted each other. She let them get on with their work and moved to the edge of the balcony to look over the gardens and the landscape beyond. The grounds of the court were huge and expansive, but beyond them, a vast city rose up into the sky, filled with life.
The architecture of Palashain was all grand sweeping curved lines with their towers all looking like elegant curved and twisting spikes that shimmered in the daylight. Surrounding these grey and cream towers, the greenery of the planet looked lush and vibrant. They were filled with life. The architects had incorporated the natural world into their plans, with parks and trees being a key part of the design.
